The Popularity of Misquamicut beach has Soared
I have lived in Westerly, RI for over 30 years now. During that time I have seen the popularity of Misquamicut Beach soar as a vacation destination for people who live outside of our local area. A few years ago several national magazines ran articles naming Westerly, RI as one of the top 10 family vacation spots in the country. Once those pieces hit the news stands, the town became inundated with new tourists who wanted to enjoy the area beaches and scenery. Needless to say, our town grew rapidly in popularity and it just hasn’t been the same since. I suppose that’s not all bad, though, as it does help to support local businesses.
