Eronomics & a Medical Transcription Job

Today we talked about ergonomics for a Medical Transcription Job. Listen to this: on average I’ll be putting in between 50,000 and 200,000 keystrokes a day as a medical transcriptionist. There are certain illness and health complaints that seem to strike transcribers. I learned about the importance of altering your positioning every twenty minutes or so. My posture is also key when I’m transcribing. I need to sit straight up. I need to sit your chair height so that my thighs are horizontal and my feet are flat on the floor. The backs of my knees should be just a smidge higher than my chair seat. I also need to keep my forearms horizontal too. I have to keep the space under my desk clear so I can move my legs around. And I need to keep my shoulders relaxed. I also need to keep my wrists stable as I type.
