Learn How To Cook Beans In Jamaican Recipes

Learn how to cook some of the beans that you will find in the Jamaican Recipes.

Yard beans grow all through the year. The pod may be one to two feet long and about half an inch broad. They should be picked when young and tender, washed, broken into pieces an inch or less long, and cooked in little boiling salted water until tender.

Many varieties of pole and bush beans may be obtained in the market. Lima beans grow in flat pods and are kidney-shaped, the bean, not the pod, being used.

Soya beans, though generally not available in the market, can be grown in the garden. The pods are hairy, about two inches long. Soya beans may be cooked in the pods and the pods removed, for cooking.
